Heat Press

The heat press is a large hydraulic press that has two heated platens. The platens are heated with hot oil that is circulated inside of them. This press is not used for cutting, but for applying facing to foam or making felt or densified foam. The press has a bed size of 72" x 100".
Some of the facings we have successfully applied are; reinforced foil, fleece and Kapton®.
We are able to make standard full size sheets of reticulated or SIF felt that are 48" x 72". Solimide® can also be densified in full 48" x 96" sheets. Other foams, such as non-reticulated polyurethanes can also be felted/densified to increase its toughness, density, insulation properties and rigidity.
Compression Molding

Compression molding is a process in which material is heated and then shaped in an ambient temperature mold under pressure. This process works very well with closed cell polyethylene foams. We have also had success compression molding open cell polyurethane foam using heated molds and pressure.
This process allows complex shapes to be designed and fabricated with complex curves and smooth surfaces.
Die-Cutting Presses

Our Press Department consists of numerous hydraulic and mechanical flat bed and rotary presses that are used to die cut or stamp out a specific shape. The presses are capable of kiss cutting on pressure sensitive adhesive packages. Some of the presses are equipped with vacuum capabilities to separate parts from the web or scrap.

We have a range of press sizes from 15 ton with a 12" x 16" bed up to 150 ton with a 46" x 82" bed.
Having a variety of presses allows us to match the part size and material type for the best yield and efficiency.
Most of our presses are able to handle sheets or rolls. Tolerances are determined by the material type and cutting speed, so they are quoted on a part by part basis.
